Congratulations to Hanxin alumna Catherine Chin on winning the National Library of Malaysia Book Award!
Catherine Chin, a 1994 graduate of the Department of Communication, has won this year's National Library of Malaysia Book Award (Chinese Physical Book Reader's Choice Category) (Anugerah Buku PNM 2025/2026, Kategori Pilihan Pembaca Buku Bercetak Bahasa Cina).This award organized by the National Library of Malaysia, is held every five years. The judging panel consists of professors from universities across the country, selecting winners from nominations submitted by various publishers. Each award category covers Malay, English, Chinese, and Tamil, with only one first prize awarded in each category.
Catherine Chin won this honor for her children's novel, *Hi, Commander Tiger King is Here*, written under the pen name "Meiya". The National Library Book Award is considered an important platform for recognizing high-quality and influential works in the country, aiming to enhance the overall status of the national book industry.
She shared her journey from reader to journalist, then to editor, and finally to author. The path may not have always met her initial expectations, but with perseverance at every step, fate has led her to the inevitable light, and ultimately, she will receive blessings exceeding all her desires.
